Governance
As a subsidiary of Salzgitter AG, Salzgitter Mannesmann Stahlservice GmbH adheres strictly to the guidelines specified by Salzgitter AG. Regulated and transparent processes, as well as responsibilities and competencies, form the foundation of corporate governance. People are at the centre of everything we do.
In keeping with the motto "by people for people", all employees identify with the environmental and climate protection goals and the achievement of these.
Corporate policy
We, Salzgitter Mannesmann Stahlservice GmbH (SMS), act with integrity and in accordance with ethical principles. We achieve this by taking responsibility for our actions in compliance with international and national laws and regulations.
In order to realise this claim, SMS adheres to the Salzgitter AG Code of Conduct. This Code of Conduct represents a commitment regarding the behaviour of all employees towards the applicable laws, their superiors and colleagues, the public, customers, suppliers, the environment and other business partners.
Our aim is to enforce valid rules of behaviour that promote sound and correct business conduct in order to ensure lasting business success for SMS.

Quality management and environmental management
The SMS sites are currently certified according to the following standards: Karlsruhe ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, Schwerte IATF 16949, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. The respective certificates of the locations can be viewed in the "Information database" section. All the processes are precisely structured and professionally implemented. We ensure this through regular internal and external audits. Defined process targets are monitored by means of a continuous review and corrected by means of measures if necessary.
Environmental concerns are extremely important to SMS. For example, CO2-reducing measures are continuously being tested for feasibility. All the relevant information for Group-wide reporting is also made available.
Integrated management systems (IMS)
SMS has combined the management systems that are relevant to the company to form a single integrated management system. This currently consists of quality management, environmental management, occupational health and safety management and information security management. The areas of ESG (environmental, social and governance), compliance and risk management are also integrated into the IMS. Our IMS is based on the requirements of various standards and Group guidelines. They define the requirements for the respective management system and the associated documentation.
All the certified management systems are coordinated by a centrally managed staff unit. All the processes are described centrally and are available for every employee to view and use.
Labour and health management
The protection, integrity and health of our employees are our top priority. This applies both to operational activities and beyond. As a responsible employer, we have therefore installed a special occupational health and safety system that is considered exemplary and goes far beyond the legal requirements.
Extensive preventive measures also help to maximise occupational safety. Our employees always have the opportunity to obtain detailed information on the subject of health and a healthy lifestyle and to take advantage of various health promotion programmes. Our occupational health and safety management system is based on ISO 45001 and, like all the other management systems, is monitored and further developed by internal representatives.
Information security management system
In order to prevent damage and risks to Salzgitter Mannesmann Stahlservice GmbH and our customers, we apply a comprehensive protection system. This protection system is based on the Group policies of Salzgitter AG and is regularly audited from there. The protection of information and information security is of existential importance.
